Three-layer aluminium plate aims to make die-cutting tools lighter and more durable
Marbach, a global manufacturer of die-cutting tools, has launched the solidplate|alu, a three-layer carrier plate consisting of two aluminium layers and a marbacore core. The plate is designed for large machine formats in which dimensional stability and precision are critical. Conventional multi-ply carrier plates tend to fall short in this application because they absorb moisture and can only be re-measured a limited number of times.
The metallic top layer of the solidplate|alu allows for a simpler replacement of ejector rubber, thereby shortening setup times. The use of aluminium instead of steel makes the plate significantly lighter than previous solutions. This eases tool handling and ergonomic working conditions alike while also reducing transport effort on the production floor.
Bernhard Reisser, industry manager for cartons at Marbach, points to the practical benefits in day-to-day operations. The solidplate|alu is primarily intended for food packaging production but also sees use in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
