One of the first MIRAFLEX II shipped to New Zealand

In time for the 40 an­niver­sary of the com­pa­ny New Zealand based CON­VEX Plas­tics was one of the first to or­der a new MI­RAFLEX II line in 2016. The new ma­chine is equipped with 8 col­or decks and comes with a large re­peat length of 1130mm and a press speed of 500m/min. It is sched­uled to be de­liv­ered in June 2017. The MI­RAFLEX II C will be de­liv­ered with state-of-the-art VI­SION Pack­age for web- and de­fect in­spec­tion, as well as with an in­line gravure stand for lac­quer ap­pli­ca­tion.

With suc­cess: Over the past four decades, CON­VEX has evolved from a one-man busi­ness with a home-made bag ma­chine mak­ing plain plas­tic bags in a garage, to an in­ter­na­tion­al sup­pli­er of in­no­v­a­tive flex­i­ble pack­ag­ing so­lu­tions, with of­fices in three coun­tries and 140 em­ploy­ees. CON­VEX op­er­ates one OLYMPIA STEL­LAFLEX and PRI­MAFLEX CM flexo press from W&H as well.

For that de­vel­op­ment, CON­VEX con­tin­u­ous­ly in­vest­ed in new ma­chines. The in­no­va­tions of the new line con­vinced CON­VEX to be one of the first buy­ers. “The high­er au­toma­tion, the changes to the web path and the im­prove­ments for eas­i­er op­er­a­tions of the MI­RAFLEX II im­pressed us. Es­pe­cial­ly im­por­tant was also the ac­cu­ra­cy of the down­stream gravure and the proven track record with the HE­LIOSTAR sta­tions.” CON­VEX shares a 20-year re­la­tion­ship with W&H. Col­lett adds: “For me per­son­al­ly this will be the fourth W&H in­stal­la­tion I've been a part of at CON­VEX and oth­er sites. It’s the com­plete pack­age that makes W&H spe­cial: Con­sul­ta­tion based on mar­ket knowl­edge, Ger­man En­gi­neer­ing of the ma­chines and on­go­ing sup­port and ser­vice”.
